October 4 – 26: Living History, Yellow Fever in Savannah: In October the Davenport House Museum will present a dramatic recreation of early 19th century life when yellow fever ravaged the city. Costumed interpreters portray residents coping with the realities of life during a catastrophe with an exploration of death and funeral customs, medical treatments as well as how various sectors of the population dealt with events. A highlight is moving through the candlelit rooms witnessing enactments. In an area seldom seen by visitors, the fate and experiences of the uncounted half of the city’s population, both free and enslaved African Americans, are revealed. Tickets are $16 in advance, $19 at the door, program starts at 7pm and runs for 45 minutes, every Friday and Saturday through October.
October 18 – 27 – Tybee Post Theater: The Tybee Arts Association presents a new and shocking version of Robert Louis Stephenson’s Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde – a classic tale of depravity, lust, love and horror. “On the fog-bound streets of Victorian-Era London Henry Jekyll’s experiments with exotic “powders and tinctures” have brought forth his other self, Edward Hyde, a sensualist and villain free to commit the sins Jekyll is too civilized to comprehend. Saturday, October 26 – Saturday, November 2 – SCAD Film Festival The Savannah College of Art and Design presents the annual festival, filled with cinematic creativity from both award-winning professionals and emerging student filmmakers. The festival is host to a wide variety of competition film screenings, special screenings, workshops, panels and lectures.

Thursday, October 24 – Saturday, October 26 – Savannah Pride Festival Savannah Pride celebrates 20 years with more Pride than ever with a theme of “Myths and Legends”. Join the party in Ellis Square for Pride After Dark on Friday night to kick off the celebration with the 1st Annual Savannah Pride Parade at 8PM. Saturday morning, get things started with the 2nd Annual Savannah Pride Pawrade at 10AM. The Downtown Takeover Bar Crawl keeps the party rolling from 12PM-6PM. Saturday, October 26 – Sunday, October 27 – Empire Comic Con: Two-day comic book and pop-culture convention, taking place at the Savannah Convention Center, focusing on Comic Books, Video Games, Role Playing Games, and Cosplay.
Attendees will enjoy panels, seminars, and workshops with comic book professionals, as well as ones focusing on special effects, cosplay, and pop culture & film guests. Empire Comic Con also features a large floor space for exhibitors including comic book dealers and collectibles booths. The show features areas where attendees can get sketches or original art from their favorite comic artists or get pictures and autographs from special movie and television guests. Wormsloe’s Colonial Haunted Trail: Rangers will guide you into the past to site of colonist Nobel Jones’ home. Tours will depart from the Visitors Center every 20 minutes beginning at 7:00 pm. Historic Catholic Cemetery Tours: Explore Catholic history in Savannah through this guided 90 minute walking tour of the cemetery learning about individuals and families who have made notable impacts on Savannah society and the Catholic community. Tours start at 9am and every 30 minutes after that with the last tour starting at 11:30. Tickets are $15.
