July Happenings

PSA: Please note that starting Wednesday, July 1, 2020, it is mandatory that everyone wear a mask while in public spaces in Savannah. Stay Safe, Y’all!

Mondays in July

I Pledge For Ice Cream at Leopold’s on Broughton Street. Kickoff is Wednesday, July 1 from 4 – 7pm. Any child age 12 and under (accompanied by an adult) that can recite the pledge of allegiance will receive a free child’s size scoop of ice cream. Happens every Monday throughout July from 4 – 7pm.

This is a National event that was started by Stratton Leopold to reward children for their patriotism.

Telfair Museums

The Telfair Museums are back open with hours of operation from 10am – 5pm Thursday through Monday. The current exhibit at the Jepson Center is “Collecting Impressionism”. This exhibit will run through January 2021.

In this exhibition, Telfair Museum digs deep into its more than 7,000-work permanent collection to reveal some of the most striking examples of American, German, and French Impressionism in the United States. Collecting Impressionism: Telfair’s Modern Vision traces the early 20th-century footsteps of noted Telfair art advisor Gari Melchers (1860–1932) as he traveled the country and the globe identifying remarkable examples of the avant- garde art movement and giving them a permanent home in Savannah. His prescient collecting decisions laid the groundwork for one of the most important and beloved parts of Telfair’s collection.
